The Real Estate Catch 22

The biggest dilemma in real estate and the key decision that keeps people up at night is - Do I sell first or buy first? Either way it is very tricky but can be accomplished if handled properly. If you buy first before selling there is the possibility of getting stuck with 2 homes. If this is your strategy, have a back up plan and talk to your bank to make sure you are able to carry 2 homes if that worst case scenario happens. The other option is to sell first before buying - however this strategy may put you on the street without a home to move in to! If this is your strategy you should have a rental option as a back up just in case you don’t find the right home to buy in time.

 

Regardless of the route you choose your real estate transaction can pose a problem without the proper advice. You should always be looking for a home at the same time as you have your home for sale - never wait until the last minute to evaluate the current homes for sale on the market.
